Meet Cantor Kathy Fromson

037_150803_kathy_fromson_crCantor Kathy has served as a guest cantor for various congregations in the Cleveland area since 2000. She studied with Cantor Misha Pisman of Park Synagogue Anshe Emeth Beth Tefilio and Kiva Shtull for training in Nusach, Torah Trope, and sacred music. She joined Temple Israel Akron in July of 2015.

Fromson grew up in Beachwood, graduated from Hathaway Brown School in Shaker Heights and earned a bachelor’s degree in romance languages from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She studies vocal instruction with Cantorial Vocal Coach Leslie Varnick, has studied piano at the Cleveland Institute of Music, and is self-taught on guitar. She has also worked in many of the Cleveland area Jewish preschools as an early education music specialist for the past 18 years.

In addition to her ongoing pulpit responsibilities, Cantor Kathy oversees the Volunteer Choir, the B'nai Mitzvah program, the Temple High Holiday Choir, and she teaches music in Temple Israel’s Religious School.

Cantor Kathy has been married to Scott Fromson, an attorney in Solon, for 28 years. They are the proud parents of Brett, Noah, and Halle.
