We are proud to be joining with congregations across the country in the National Council of Jewish Women's Shabbat initiative focusing on reproductive rights in our country. This week, our Torah portion addresses the issue quite directly as it sets the punishment for one who attacks a woman who is pregnant. I know that this is not just an intellectual or political debate. Many in our community have personal experiences and strong feelings about reproductive rights in our state. This is why we cannot shy away from deepening our Jewish study on this issue and our commitment to being a Jewish voice for justice in our community.
