This week, Jeremy Sosin joins us on the bima to welcome Shabbat. Shabbat morning we are excited to call Lorelei Madine to the Torah as a bat mitzvah. Congratulations to the Mackey and Madine family on the occasion of this Simcha. Every year around this time our congregation gathers for an additional Jewish holiday. If you have not registered for Mitzvah Day, now is the time. There are mitzvot geared toward families, and adults as well as activities that involve physical effort and some that involve sitting and learning about how we continue to advocate to stop gun violence and to increase opportunities for education in our schools. Beyond the deeds themselves, Temple Israel's Mitzvah Day is an annual gathering of interfaith groups working to improve our city. It has become a reminder to many of our neighbors that our Jewish community remains an active and engaged part of Akron. Join us for what promises to be a wonderful weekend June 3 & 4.
